Ninebark

Physocarpus opulifolious 'Summer Wine' in bloom for the first time. 5/24/10

I have fallen in love with this shrub, especially now since I see the flowers! I looked up some information and I now know that I should prune it to promote a fuller shape right after bloom. I may just take cuttings and root more of these for myself. They are supposedly drought tolerant. It doesn't seem to mind occasionally soggy conditions either in my garden.

Berries are forming for the birds. I may sacrafice a few though to take cuttings and I may try to start a few from the berries as well once they are ripe.
